Inspired by the work of MIT students, IEEE members created a modular dance floor that features light-up LED segments. It can be programmed to display visualizations to accompany music.
As of the Spring 2007 semester, we've begun working on VDF 2.0 - the second incarnation of the Vertigo Dance Floor. More information is available here.
Our new project for 2007 Vertigo is LED Floaties. Based on this Instructable, we'll be filling balloons with colored LEDs and inflating them. Not only do they look great at dark parties, they can be used to educate students on the basics of diodes and LEDs.
A 2-credit course taught partially by IEEE officers. The course offers great hands-on experience. At the end of the semester, you get to keep your robot and compete in a competition against robots from previous semesters. More information is available here.
